GDP per capita — % of the EU average

Lithuania’s gross domestic product per head, expressed as a percent of the European Union average. 100 % is the EU average of the SAME year — the EU as composed today, 27 member states (EU27_2020) — and not a fixed line. The figure is in purchasing power standards, which adjusts for the price levels of different countries: it compares what the output buys rather than what it converts to at the exchange rate. Because the comparison is against the same year’s average, a year in which Lithuania and the average grew by the same proportion reads flat.

Method and caveats

Eurostat’s nama_10_pc table, item B1GQ, unit PC_EU27_2020_HAB_MPPS_CP. Annual and gap-free from 1995 to 2025. Every year is measured against the same aggregate — the EU as composed today (EU27_2020), including the years before that composition existed — so the series is not stitched together out of different EU memberships. Eurostat publishes the same index as whole numbers from 2000 in a second table, sdg_10_10, and the two agree to the rounding in all 26 of their shared years. Statistics Lithuania republishes the index as S7R302, but only for 2014–2024 and on an older vintage: 2024 reads 88 there against 87.4 here. This is a relative figure, so it falls in a year Lithuania’s output grew if the EU average grew faster.
